Singapore Fashion Festival 2008

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

That is what I think about yesterday's runway shows. I am involved with a so called school attachment with the SG Fashion Festival as a packer/usher. Simple job I must say. Initially, the thought of not being paid really puts me off but when I finally experienced it yesterday, I think it's worth not being paid. The experience pays it all! Haha! I really mean it, ok! Wouldn't u just love to brush shoulders with expatriats, A-listers, actress, models, VIPs and especially, renowned designers?!?!

Where else on earth can I get this chance? I am feeling the most ultimate euphoria right now! Finally, I get to meet Ashley Isham! It sux to miss his runway show on Saturday. Would love to see his Autumn/Winter 08 collection! Sadly, his Spring/Summer 08 collection wasn't really up to my expectation. Then again, what much do I understand about fashion? Not so into it but I do admire their creative designs. ;)

Oooo... one thing that caught my attention when I first saw him at Qiu Hao's runway show was the bag he carried. I couldn't figure out at first glance but eventually, I recalled the collection! He had with him this fabulous Louis Vuitton Monogram Joke in the Heartbreak model! Woohoo! That cost like a whopping SGD3,500++, for god's sake! Oh, another thing! On closer observation, I saw him wearing this gorgeous Chanel J12 White Ceramic Automatic Watch! It's my dream watch!!! *faints* I had to resort to the cheapo ones @ Bugis as a subtitute as I just couldn't justify the SGD4,900++ price tag!! How rich can he be? Arghhh!

By the way, I also met Denise Keller outside the tent and took a group picture with her. All the girls flocked to her first before me. Thus, when I came, she suddenly joked with me saying she shall charge me for the picture (as I'm the only guy around). She then said she was just kidding! Haha how nice, having a renowned VJ/Model joking with u?! Fine, I know I'm like exaggerating but hey, who would not love that moment? Then, just moments before the Ritu Kumar runway show, she, already dolled up in a chic number, came up to me and Ayin and said "Hey Guys!". Haha! It's suppose to be the other way round, no? Weeee!!!

Ahhhh memories memories. They are sure gonna be stuck in my head for a while. Haha! Can't wait to work for the next few days. More runway shows are coming up and they are going to be fabulous, no doubt. The next runway show I will be involved in (today) is the Tan Yoong, Dazzling Rhapsody brought to you by Lee Hwa Jewellery. :)

Black Black Black...

Hey there everyone!

Woohoo! So many things happened yesterday. Funny how sometimes my life feels like such a bore while on other times, there's just too many things going on. Haha! Well, that's life, no? Anyways, yesterday I went out with Iz. We were like on a mission of "hunting down" a black long sleeve shirt for myself. Haha. It feels like amazing race ok. We went to few places, namely City Hall, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio and Bedok to look for that particular shirt. But... it was to no avail.

Well, that was because, I was relying only on this one particular shop that sells big sizes shirts at such low price. Only 5 bucks, mind you. Where else on Earth can you get such a good deal these days? So yeah, due to me "focusing" so much, I neglect other shops which obviously have the particular shirt that I want. It's not that I purposely want to neglect but it's the price tag that scares me off, ok! I didn't want to spend a lot on a shirt that I'm only going to wear for work! Hmph.

Oooo... did I say work? Haha. Yeah, in case you're wondering why the heck I sound so desperate for a black long sleeve shirt, well that's because, I got a job attachment with Singapore Fashion Festival '08. I will be the Usher cum Packer at the event site, which is at Takashimaya by the way, thus I need to be dressed in full black. Black long sleeve shirt, Black pants and Black formal shoe. Guess what? It looks like Marks & Spencer staff!!! Haha! Omg I just can't wait to start work. Will update more towards the starting of my working day (Sunday).

I went home feeling very frustrated! I need to get the shirt latest by last night because mom will only be free today and tomorrow to alter the shirt should there be any need to do so. Thus, last night, I asked my brother to send me to Peninsula to buy the shirt. The place is famous for big sizes shirt but I hate the price tag! I'm left with no choice, really. I finally got one at 40 bucks. 35 bucks over budget! Sigh. As if one is not enough, I actually placed an order for another one which is due for collection on Monday. That means, another 40 bucks! Awesome or what? Haha! Nevermind, treat it as investment (provided I don't outgrow the shirt). Haha! The quality's good and that's what is important. Fancy me paying so much if the item sux! Haha.

So yeah, I'm so feeling ultimate euphoria ... NOT!

Terminal Three Tour (T3)

Hola there!

Finally, I came up with a successful impromptu plan! Trust me, I never had any successful ones before. Ok perhaps, just once or twice but that's with friends. My mom never want to give in to any of my impromptu plans. I was quite shocked when she finally gave in yesterday. Well, early in the morning, I was just browsing through the Terminal 3 guide that came together with the recent copy of 8 days. Suddenly, I felt like going there and eating at Popeyes. So, I told mom my plan and without hesitation, she said it's fine with her. I was like...is she for real? She was! :)

Thus, around 2pm, off we went to Terminal 3. Haha! Anyways, just for your info, it was my mom's off day. I guess that's why she wasn't reluctant. Moreover, there's not much household chores to be done. So yeah. We took the MRT and before long, we arrived at Terminal 3. We wasted no time. We immediately explored the Departure area. Well, since I have been to Terminal 3 back in November 2007, I acted like her tour guide for a bit. Haha! We both agreed that Terminal 3 is like a cross breed of Kuala Lumpur's and Jakarta's Airport. Haha! You would understand why if you've ever been to those two airports... ;)

We then went into all the retail shops to check out the things for sale. Most are familiar retailers thus it is affordable. Mom just can't resist buying a ring from Mini Bits. Haha! After going round, we went to the basement and headed straight for Popeyes. Had a scrumptious meal! I swear I love Popeyes more than KFC. If only there are outlets outside Terminal 2 & Terminal 3! Sigh...

We then went round the basement. Gosh, it looks similar to any shopping mall's basement! Talk about Singapore's trademark! There's Fairprice, Mr Bean, Watsons, Candy Empire... How familiar can this be to all Singaporeans? Unless they're that oblivious lah. Hehe. I went to Eu Yan Sang to look for dried longans coz I am craving for it but they only have the semi-dried ones and it's for cooking anyways. Sigh. I ended up buying dried peach and mango instead... Only $2+ each! Haha!

At around 5pm, we took the Skytrain and headed towards Terminal 2. Walked around for a bit again and then headed to Simei to buy supper. A good thing that there's a direct bus to my home from Simei. By taking service number 5, we were home in no time. Haha. Overall, the trip yesterday was worthit and enjoyable. Mom and me were both happy! :D

Chocolat Factory

Sawubona everyone!!!

Ninjani? Haha what am I saying? Well that's 'hello' and 'how are u' in Zulu, the African language. Why Africa? Well, this is due to my discovery of the Chocolat Factory! Ok hold on there. It's not that I'm oblivious enough not to notice the existence of the store in Singapore, but, I never actually bought anything from them. Obviously the main reason is, price! Haha. Here's the brief intro of Chocolat Factory...

Chocolat Factory was founded by Michel Laline who was born in Katanga, Africa in the 1960s. He became an expert in chocolatier as he has been surrounded by cocoa beans from his earliest childhood. He then teamed up with Titus Ruiz, who was born in Barcelona in the 1980s. Formerly a dancer, she now owns and manages the company. I believe, the factor that contributed to the exorbitant prices on the chocolates, are that the chocolates are hand made by specialized staff. As a result, the product not only taste scrumptious, but it is also filled with the utmost passion from the staff. Haha.

To date, Chocolat Factory carries a range of products, mainly focusing on the different types of chocolates (ie dark, white, milk chocolates etc). But, what catches my attention most, were the Chocolate Jams (S$14). They have chocolate jam with sweet pear, chocolate jam with bitter orange, chocolate jam with marron glace (chestnut) and chocolate jam with mint. Fret not, Chocolat Factory promised that chocolate is dominant in all the jams. They better be! Haha! I'm yet to buy one. I guess I'll definitely purchase one on my next visit. ;)

On my trip to the Vivocity's branch yesterday, I did purchased something else though. Well, I wasn't really sure of what to purchase initially coz everything looked so foreign to me despite them being just chocolates. Sorry, but the salesgal weren't of any help either. I refused to sample the chocolates so as not to confuse myself further. Eventually, I picked the 'assorted flavor milk chocolates' as they were the only eye catching thing there. I need some colours, man! Everywhere I turn, it's either brown or white. LOL! Why the heck am I expecting so much from a chocolate shop? Not like it's a "rainbow" shop... Haha!

Anyways, the milk chocolates were prepacked in cute clear wrappers and it was tagged S$12/100g. Well, fine with me but I thought it is truly S$12! When I went to the counter to make payment, the salesgal re-weigh the packet and keyed in the price to be S$13.90! Sheesh! The verdict? Not quite worth the money, I must say. I'm quite disappointed as the chocolate taste almost similar to the Smarties, just a tad better and minus the sugary shell. Hmm... I guess it's just my luck to have chosen the wrong chocolate. I bet the plain-coloured ones must definitely taste better! Remember, looks can be deceiving!!! But, I never regret the purchase at all. It's just the stepping stone. I definitely will try something else someday but not so soon. It's chocolates after all! Despite the company promoting that their chocolates are "healthy", I still believe consuming too much of them kills. LOL!

P/S: I'm also craving for Godiva and Sins chocolates. Mmmmmm. . . .

Niz

Like, Finally?

Hola!!

Yes yes yes! Finally I get to watch a movie again at the cineplex! Haha! I hope I don't sound deprived but it has been quite some time since I went to any cineplex to watch a movie. So yesterday, together with Iz, I went to Jubilee Ang Mo Kio to watch Horton. Wait. I know. U must be wondering why of all cineplexes, I chose Jubilee, right? Well, that's because I have 2 free Eng Wah movie passes. Mom got it for Labour Day last year and it will expire soon. So yeah... Just wanted to clear it.

Given a choice, never would I have ever chosen to be in Jubilee, especially early in the morning. I chose to go for the first show @ 10:45 as we both have plans in the afternoon. Guess what? The cinema was empty! In the darkness, we saw one lady in white.... *jeng jeng jeng*... Haha! She's just another person wanting to watch the movie lah. Suspense only! Then towards the starting of the movie, two other ladies came in to the theater. So yeah, in total there were only 5 people in there. Haha! How about the theater itself? Well, it looked quite run down and the seats are not comfy... but with a ticket price of only $5 (if I were to buy), I guess it's worth the freezing aircon. A bonus point too if the movie is awesome. Haha! High expectations are certainly not needed. :P

Horton. Well, I would rate it 3.5/5. Storyline sux to the max. No link sia!! But, the characters are darn cute and funny. With only 5 people in the theater and seated quite far from each other, everyone laughed out loud. Haha! Must have been one of the most hilarious movie ever. I laughed till I teared badly. Sheesh! Oh btw, I saw the trailer for Ice Age 3 while waiting for the movie to start. Guess what? It will be showing in Summer 2009!!! How far away is that? Haha! Can't wait to watch it though.

After the movie, me & Iz had a quick lunch @ McD opposite AMK HUB before going round the hub to window shop. I fell in love with the Jojo New York sunglasses!! At only $38, it's a steal! Sadly, I didn't purchase it yesterday. Perhaps next time. A Polaroid sunglass sounds and look cool, really. Haha! Hmmm... soon after we both parted ways to attend to our own appointment. Thanx yeah Iz for tagging along! Haha.

Shopping Spree!!!

Hey hey hey!!!

I am feeling ultimate euphoria once again! I guess it's pretty obvious isn't it? Haha! Finally, I get to shop shop shop!! I spent almost half of my Sunday and Monday to shop. LOL! Crazy much? Perhaps...

On Sunday, I was so freakin bored at home coz I was alone. Mom had to do her OT, u see. I've got no plans but ended up, I decided to drop by Raffles City & Vivocity after lunch before going to work in the afternoon. Initially, I wanted to just window shop but me being me, I guess that word is just not in my vocabulary. Cehhh! Haha! Well, bought a perfume @ Esprit, some food stuffs @ Marks & Spencer and Candy Empire, some stationaries @ Prints and some other knick knacks. I'm glad to meet the salesperson who has been so kind to me @ M&S Raffles City. She still remembers me sey! Haha!

Yesterday, both mom and me were off from work so we decided to go out. It's been some time since the both of us went to Orchard together so u bet, before long we were there! Haha. We walked from DFS Galleria all the way to Paragon, via Ngee Ann City. Woohoo! Along the way, bought a few stuffs of course and met very nice salespersons. Service standards in Singapore has tremendously increased I must say. Awesome people. Kudos to them. Haha! Hello, I am in the service line too so I know how it feels like to treat customers (guests in my case), especially demanding/rude ones. Haha! Yet, they still treat everyone equally. Just great.

Ok enough of praises. Let's move on to the real deal! These are the items me & mom bought yesterday
.

- Mintmark & Co. 925 Silver Ring [$30 from Isetan Scotts]
- Orchidee Perfume (a local brand formerly known as Singapore Girl) [$48 from DFS Galleria]

- Beryl's Tiramisu Chocolates [$6 from somewhere... lol!]
- Gianni Valentino Maroon Wallet [$50 from Takashimaya]
- Balenciaga Black Monogram Sling Bag [$109 from Takashimaya]
- Diesel Spray Vials for Men [$4 from Lucky Plaza shop opp McD]

We then went to McCafe Scotts halfway through the shopping spree for a tea (more like coffee) break. Mom drank Cappucino while I drank Iced Chocolate. We also shared a 'Darn Good Brownie'. That's the real name, guys! Haha. Scrumptious!

Tell me, how can I not be feeling ultimate euphoria? Haha. Btw just in case you can't distinguish which item is for who, well the bag and wallet is obviously mine mine mine! Haha! WEEE! By the very way too, just a couple of days back, I also bought a new umbrella in view of the rainy season lately. This nice black Esprit umbrella only cost $19.90. ;)

Well, that's about it! Gawk Admire in awe, u guys! Hahahahaha! It's so not me to be mean. Just kidding peeps! Aite, take good care and have a good week ahead yeah?! But remember, friday is Good Friday holiday!!! Enjoy the holiday!!!

The Finale

10th March 2008. The date to be remembered till eternity.

My mom is finally divorced (Talak 1) from my dad before the Judge of Honour. A status my mom has been longing ever since my dad went away. Sadly, the divorce words were not expressed by my dad. The Court made the decision based on the fact that my dad had deserted my mom and never pay her maintenance for 4 consecutive months.

Words could not describe how I felt that very day in the Court. I was both happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy coz finally, the case ended after almost half a year gone. I'm happy to see mom with all smiles. I know this will be good for her. But as to why I'm sad, I guess it's pretty obvious. I've lost a father. My family is no longer complete. For once, I agree with you people out there who told me that no matter what, he is still my father. That's why I'm sad. I'm extremely disappointed in him. Usually, it's the child who let down their parents but not for me. What is God trying to show me and mom out of all these?

My two elder sisters were present after the hearing outside the court. They came up to my dad to chat with him. After all, it has been ages since they last saw their dad. It hurts me so much to listen to their conversation. My dad speaks like nothing has happened. I don't understand why, till the very last day, he still keeps his ego high by saying that this divorce took place all because of my mom. He claimed my mom never treat him good. What logic is that? After 20 freaking years, he dares says this? True enough my mom stopped treating him nicely since early 2006, but, that was due to her finding out about my dad's secret marriage! Imagine yourself in my mom's shoe. Who would be jumping for joy at that discovery? He must be insane!!!

My sisters then took him for lunch to help us "investigate" more. They claimed that my dad finally admitted he regretted his acts. He was aware that I am in particular very mad at him. That's the reason why he cannot face me. He have always turned his back on me. He told my sisters that he can't possibly have apologised to me despite being in the wrong. Gee! Wat the heck is wrong with him? This is what I dislike about him. He and his old-fashioned thinking. This is the modern world, for god's sake! Regardless of your position in the family, you jolly well apologise for your own mistake, right? Sigh. Very very disappointed. For this, I am still mad at him and I don't know if I can ever forgive and/or forget. I will just let nature take its course. Let time heals everything. . .

He then said that he never expected my mom to engage a lawyer and fight so hard till the case ended. He said my mom is already rich and living a high class life. Why the need for his money? Gosh! Not to brag but we really don't need his money ok! This is by law and this is his responbility that he neglected. The so called 'compensation' he needs to pay my mom amounted to $20,000+. My mom initially requested $50,000+ but out of goodwill, she agreed to lower down the amount. So now, together with my maintenance fee, my dad needs to pay a total of $540 per month to my mom. He shooked his head all the way, in the court, when the law was passed down by the Judge. Too bad for him. U see, regretting his mistake is one thing but it could not have possibly ended there, right? He needs to be gentleman enough to face the music! This is the only way to reprimand him. It's not like me and mom no longer have any humanitiy in us but what he did was more inhumane isn't it? Sigh. Very very disappointed again.

Regarding custody, obviously I chose my mom over him. That's it. I just want to close the chapter in my life. I want to start a new chapter, if not a new book, with my mom and grandma. Everyone told me to take care of my two treasure and take this incident as a lesson. I pray each day not to be like my dad. I vow to make my mom happy for the rest of her life. God, please make me strong to face the days ahead.

Apart from all these happenings, there's another thing that's bothering my mind right now. My house needs to be sold off. My mom will get 80% of the profit and the rest will be given to my dad. Where am I going to move? The 3 months limit is really killing me and mom. My grandma love this house and wanted my mom to buy back the house after selling it away. Sadly my mom can't afford it. As such, my grandma decided to sell off her house to help my mom pay off the extra amount. That's sweet but then again, this idea was sort of rejected by my aunt. Sigh. After one problem is over, another problem arises. I know, it's not life if there's no problem. But too much is also not good isn't it? I don't know anything now. I can't predict the future. I am so living day by day from today onwards. God knows till when. . .

So that's the whole update on my family's situation now. Thank you for reading through and another million thanks to everyone who have supported me and my mom all these while. I hope we will stay strong all the way. . . Insya'allah, Amin.

Niz

Messenger Bags

Hello Everyone!

How's life? I know some of you out there are enjoying your holidays. How awesome? For the rest, continue on mugging for the upcoming exams, guys! Haha! I am stressing out too. Even so, in the midst of all the studying, I guess I need a quick break. What better ways can there be apart from blogging? Haha! Alright today I wanna post about Messenger bags.

If you guys know me well, you all must have realised that I only carry messenger bags and nothing else. So what is a messenger bag? It is a type of bag that is worn over one's shoulder with a strap that winds around the chest, resting the bag on the lower back. In the olden days messenger bags were used in the transportation of mail and goods by numerous types of messengers, including Pony Express riders, postal workers, messengers on foot and bicycle couriers. Now, messenger bags are used as fashion accessory. It become fashionable in urban environments especially. Why I love messenger bag as compared to a backpack for instance? Well, coz it's much easier to place and remove text-books and supplies from a messenger bag. They lie on the side of the body, thus, granting the wearer better accessibility. Messenger bags also provide more weather resistance than traditional leather bags.

Here are some example of messenger bags I currently have want (can't possibly own any lah :P). They are namely:
Tumi Track MB, LV Damier Geant MB, LV Monogram Abbesses MB, Prada Nero MB, Gucci PVC MB and Burberry Novelty Check MB

Handphone Craze, Nokia Madness

Hello everybody!

What a relieve to finally have time to blog once again! Thanx to my sudden insomnia, I can post something @ 2:30am. Haha! All these while, I'm too busy and as a result, I turn in earlier. Sigh. Anyways, I guess from now on, I want to blog only about interesting things. I find it a tad too boring to continously describe my daily life. Haha. Thanx to falb of louisvuittonlover.blogspot, I am inspired to just post some pictures with minimal words. Once in a while will I then blog about my current life. Sorta a brief update. Hehe. Let's see how long this will go... I am very known to be fickle, am I not? :P

Now, I just chat with Iz earlier and we were reminiscing the fond memories of owning different handphones, within a short period of time, a couple of years back. The rapid release of phones were just impossible to keep up with. Surprisingly, I did try my best to keep up and take a look at all the phones I've used thus far! Haha! I miss some of them terribly but ... Oh wells!

The handphones are:
Alcatel 300, N3310, N3315, N2100, N3610, N6510, SE T610, N7250, N3200, N3220, N7270, N6020 & N6300

Fuh! What a long list! Haha.
