Batam Island
BATAM, HERE I COME!!!
Yups, in another 14 hours or so, I'll be in the Wave Master ferry on the way to Batam. It's been a good 8 months since I last went there, okay! I know it's ONLY 8 months but I miss my relatives like crazy, especially the adorable kids!!! Gosh. They are the reason why me and my family visit Batam at least once or twice each year, without fail. Well, apart from shopping that is. Hehe. OMG! Batam is like a shopping haven for me. Apart from countless immitation "inspired" goods, there are also many other things that can be found in Batam at ridiculously cheap prices. Oh please don't get me wrong. I am NOT promoting counterfeit goods. To each his own, aite? :)Anywho, for the first time ever, I will be alighting at Harbour Bay ferry terminal. All these while I only alight at Batam Center ferry terminal (and I thought it was good enough). Little did I know that Harbour Bay already existed since late 2007! It replaces the very old Batu Ampar terminal and is now the most grandest ferry terminal ever built in Batam. I'm pretty sure it looks much better than Batam Center. At least the description from the official website seems extremely promising! Hehe. Still, until I see the terminal with my own eyes, I will not give any comment. ;) Here's what the website have to say...
"Harbour Bay Batam is a promising central business district with a very strategic location in Batam. This area has unique district advantages, perfect infrastructure facilities, rich land resources and vibrant business atmosphere. The total construction area of Harbour Bay is some 200.000 square meters, of which 50% is office buildings and shop house, 25% are hotels, and 25% is commercial, service, entertainment facilities and International Ferry Terminal to Singapore and Malaysia. This multi-functional design will make the CBD full of activity 24 hours a day. ""At this moment the terminal already scheduled 20 trips a day between Batam and Singapore provided by Wave Master, a well known ferry in Batam and Singapore. Harbour Bay Terminal is also the shortest way to Singapore (vice versa) compared to other terminals. It only takes 40 minutes."I'm sure I'm gonna have a blast in Batam even though I will get to spend ONLY 1 night there this time round. It's all due to me and mom's tight schedule. In fact, both of us felt quite guilty going on this trip. IMO, we don't deserve the break just as yet unlike my KL trip two months back. Oh wells, I just can't wait to get over and done with everything. Haha! Woohoo!P/S: This is also my First Time going to Batam alone (mom and grandma wanted to go earlier while I'm stuck with school)! Finally my dream of taking the ferry all by myself came true. It's both scary and exciting at the same time, okay. Haha. Pray for my safety, ya'll! Makasih! :DCredits: ~HARBOUR BAY~Regards,Niz
