Illuma @ Bugis

Yayness! Yesterday, once again, me and mom head out for an impromptu retail therapy! Hahahaha. Since mom wanted to drive and not take the public transport (more I like I made her to), we couldn't possibly drop by Orchard or anywhere far (otherwise mom'll nag so much) so we both agreed to just head to Bugis. For a moment, I thought I would just visit the same old Bugis Junction but then I recalled that there's another new mall in the vicinity called Illuma! I've been wanting to check it out ever since I heard David Archuleta performed there but got no chance to do so. So today was the day. Haha!

Before long, we were already at the parking lot behind Illuma and while waiting for mom to prepare the coupons and all, I checked out the exterior design of the fairly big mall. Well, with such distinctive, unique and edgy design, I doubt anyone could give Illuma a miss. Everything from the outside looks super cool. Haha! Once mom was done, we immediately went into the mall. That's when everything sank to the very bottom. Haha! Illuma is so bare!!! I believe they are still in expansion but still, the interior design is nothing compared to the exterior. It's like trying too hard to be arty farty but eventually, everything just go wrong. Really such a sad thing, ok! :( Furthermore, the choice of shops weren't at all interesting. It's just like taking Bugis Village to another level. What's there to brag about? Oops!

Ok I know my comments are harsh but I'm just saying what I feel. I believe some would also agree with what I said, no? The only place of interest for me is The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! Haha. Gosh, I really wish that Illuma's management think through again about how they could attract many more people to the mall. Something need to be done quick, I suppose. Oh, did I mention that the mall was fairly empty? Sigh...

After being there for only half an hour or so, we decided to leave Illuma (but not without taking some pictures first) and headed for Bugis Junction. Well, even though I'm bored of BJ, at least there's much more variety there. One can really spend all their moolahs without them realising! Haha. Mom was no exception. ;) She managed to grab some stuffs too! After all, there was a huge sale. I reckon, it's the Pre Great Singapore Sale! :D

These are the goodies that mom managed to bag at super discounted prices:

Sling Back Patent Heels from CR2 by Carlo Rino

Blue Fabric Tote from Bonia (re-released collection)

P/S: Overall, as usual, we had a real good time! Weeee~ :)

Old School

No, I'm neither talking about fashion style nor the bygone era, here. Old School is actually a building found in Singapore. Haha. How many of U knew its existence? Frankly, I never knew about it till I saw it with my own eyes! :P Well, even though Old School is strategically located in the Dhoby Ghaut area, it is still not visible from the ground level (as in the ground level of Plaza Singapura) because, it is located high up on a hill called Mount Sophia. It is actually right behind the McDonald's House and it's extremely "tiring" to get there.

Why U ask? Well, the only way up to Mount Sophia by foot, is to climb a flight of staircase. U either go through that route or take a cab up. Till now, I wonder why I chose the former but U know what? I totally had no regrets! The view from up there was so breathtaking! I instantly felt like I've done hiking a well known hill or something. Hahahaha! Sadly, it's not any cooler up there. I was sweating like crazy!! Still, after resting for a while, I was just fine and went on to check out the Old School.

Now, after much talking, U must be wondering what on earth am I doing there right? Hahaha. No worries, I'm not the adventurous sort of person so I will never be somewhere without a clear purpose. :P I was actually called up by Mercury Marketing to attend a briefing regarding the Audi Fashion Festival which is taking place real soon. I'm glad that my application to volunteer as an Usher has been approved! They actually did a major cut from the whole lot so I consider myself fortunate to have been picked. Hehe.

Well, sadly, my journey from home to Mount Sophia took almost an hour but the briefing lasted barely 5 minutes. Imagine?! But still, the view from the top compensate for everything. If not for the briefing, I wouldn't have been to the Old School. Oh, I also got to check out their super cool "Black & White" office! ;)

We all learn or see something new each day, no? That's why I love my life and I'm so living it to the fullest. Hahaha!

P/S: Yuni Aziz from Mercury Marketing had just e-mailed me my slot. She's so kind to give me 6 shows to volunteer. I really can't wait to see Ashley Isham, Marc by Marc Jacobs & Raoul runway collection! Woohoo! :D

Barbeque

I don't know why but truth be told, I'm actually not fond of the idea of having a BBQ party. I don't see how it can be fun, how it can "bring everyone together" and so on. After attending countless of BBQ parties, I can safely say that I saw more negative outcome rather positive ones (which everyone have hoped for in the first place). I know most may disagree with me but to each his own, really. Haha!

While barbequed food may taste good, the process of getting the food ready for everyone is just tedious and not many are willing to give a hand. As such, most of the time, only one or two does the "barbequeing" while the rest wait around like hungry chicks (as in the little chickens) to be fed. Don't even make me start talking about fairness and all.

So that is why I don't like to organize a BBQ party. I do not want to be the one doing everything for everyone nor do I want to see someone else doing everything for everyone. Get my point? I'd rather make a normal party and just ring the catering service for even better meal. What say U? Haha.

Anywho, I attended yet another BBQ party earlier, organized by mom's colleagues. They chose to hold it at Aloha Loyang which I consider to be one of the good BBQ site but then again, anywhere is really fine. It's just the people! As usual, at this party, only a couple helped out in the preparation. Sigh...

Know what? I felt so bad that I told mom I'm not gonna have my dinner at the party. After all, there were quite a shortage of food. Imagine? Despite a little hesitation, mom finally agreed and off we went to E-hub to indulge in the sumptous and juicy Jerk Charbroiled Chickens set @ BBQ Chicken. Now, even though the concept of this restaurant may be similar to the BBQ party, I don't and never will feel bad because it's not that I have a choice to help out. The cook are paid to serve so it's perfectly alright. Normal people at the party don't so it's really a pity. Aren't they there to enjoy too? Oh wells...

After indulging in all the good food, we head back to Aloha Loyang to catch up with things, helped out in any ways possible (unwillingly for me) before finally leaving everyone for good. If I knew, I wouldn't have followed mom. Haha! Somehow, everyone seemed to overlook the whole point that I'm trying to point out. I wonder why? Just because you're thankful they have attended your BBQ party, it doesn't mean that they need to only sit by one corner and wait to be served like a king. Think about it, people. :)

P/S: Now, don't get me wrong. I know there are certain BBQ Parties where it's kinda inappropriate to let your guests be even near the pit but, for now, I'm just touching on "close contacts" BBQ Party. If you're comfortable being around each other then I really don't see a point why one have to be treated in a more special way than the other. ;)

Merriment Monday

So what do I do after receiving a supposedly sad and worrying letter from MINDEF? Sulk by one corner? Nahhh... it will be a real waste of good time, don't U think so?! Hahaha. I am not gonna lie that the letter had left a little impact on me but it's not so bad till I had to lock up in my room or something. I just thought that it's about time I explore the outside world more before all I can see is a thick forest and very strict (sometimes nasty) Army superiors! Hehe. :P

So yesterday, I decided to meet up with Iz and headed to Changi Airport Terminal 3 to savour some delicacies at Popeye's. I know some may say that I should start going on a diet or something so that life won't be that tough in Tekong but hey, this is like my final chance to indulge on good food before having to stop (probably totally) for more or less 2 years, so give me a break will ya? Hahaha! Anywho, I've been craving for it real bad so I just went with the flow~ :P

After lunch, we decided to just walk around Terminal 3 and then had a rest at the viewing gallery while watching aeroplanes taxiing, taking off and landing. I've always wanted to be on a plane once again. Wonder when will it become a reality? Hahahaha! Then again, it's not like I have only been on a plane once so it's ok. I can patiently wait for the next opportunity. :) The last one wasn't too far away, actually. :P

We then went round the airport again, snapping some pictures along the way, before finally heading back home. It was a short meet up no doubt but I definitely treasure it. Moments like these may or may never happen again in the short/long run. So yeah... Remember guys, live life to the fullest, aite? ;) Take care!

P/S: Me & Iz definitely let the kid in us shine yesterday when we decided to get two Kinder Joy(s) each. Hahahaha! If that's not bad enough, we were actually contemplating on getting a Kinder Surprise in the first place! :P

Yes, that's basically what the letter from MINDEF consists of - which I just received yesterday. So it's confirmed that I'll be leaving for Tekong, real soon, guys! I wasn't really shocked that I got called as I'm kinda expecting it so I will just think positive about this. There's certainly no way out so what's the point of whining and complaining, no? Haha. I just hope I will not suffer too much there. Pray for me yeah! ;)

P/S: I'm surprised I got Army but that's the way thing goes... :P Anywho, meet ups soon, okay?! :D Gonna miss all of UUUUU! :(

ComfortDelGro Driving Centre

Woohoo! It's like my dream finally came true! Guess what? I successfully drove a car today. Weeeee! Even though it's just within the circuit in the CDC itself, it still meant the world to me because I've always wanted to drive a car. Getting a positive comment from the instructor is more than an icing on the cake, too! Hahahaha. Gosh, I can't wait to have more lessons. I hope everything goes on smooth till the very end. Wish me luck, yeah? ;)

P/S: This is certainly an ultimate revolution! :)

Han River Table Barbeque

It has been ages since I last stepped foot into Han River. Apart from the lack of food variety, the hefty charge also seems to be a major hindrance as I don't find it worthit. But today, me and family decided to dine there once again despite all odds. Haha! Well, believe it or not, it was actually my Granny's idea. She recalled seeing an advertisement on the television where "people had to cook their own meal" and thus, she really wants to dine there. Hahaha! So without hesitation, we just walked in to the restaurant as soon as we reached Eastpoint @ Simei.

I have no idea why everyone seemed eager even though we're so not looking forward to splurge on food but that's how things goes, no? Haha! Almost immediately, mom and granny made some salads while I took some of the marinated meats. Before long, we were already cooking and savouring all the delicacies. :) Well, I hate to compare with its rival but Han River can really make do with a little upgrade in quality. Still, we managed to swallow a whole lot of it. Haha!

Out of the many things that I ate, I must say that I particularly love the prawns. They are tiger prawns, for god's sake! Now, that's what I called worthit! Hahaha. The prawns is quite expensive so for them to be able to provide the prawns, it was just mind blowing! :P I had quite a fair bit as I just couldn't resist the juicy flesh! Hehe. Oh yeah, the suhis and other snack items weren't bad too... ;)

All in all, we just had a good time and obviously, a very bloated stomach. Me and mom actually experienced heart-burn after the whole meal but it's worthit! We managed to savour a whole lot thus, I don't feel we wasted our money. Hehe! :)
