Singapore Flyer

"At a height of 165m, Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel and is set to be one of Asia’s biggest tourist attractions. Featuring fixed capsules the size of a bus, the spectacular monument is capable of holding up to 784 passengers. Each capsule has a 28 person capacity and each revolution takes approximately 30 minutes. Singapore Flyer was conceived and designed by Dr. Kisho Kurokawa and DP Architects, Singapore. It held its groundbreaking ceremony in September 2005 and was launched in 2008. It promises more than just a view, but a panorama that captures Marina Bay’s skyline with a glimpse of neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia."

For months after the opening, I have been dying to board the Singapore Flyer. I thought my "dream" would come true when mom purchased the tickets at a discounted price, from her department, last May. Sadly, since it was an open ticket which last a complete year, mom just decided to postpone the boarding day. She said, there's no need for a rush! Well, I couldn't have a better comeback for that. Haha!

So all along, I kept on waiting for the "moment of truth". 5 months passed and it seemed like 5 years. Gosh, how dramatic!? Haha. But, guess what? I'm so euphoric when mom finally decided to board the Singapore Flyer, yesterday! It's the Deepavali Public Holiday and co-incidentally, it was also her off day. What a perfect timing, no? Without hesitation, I quickly called the ticketing office to make a booking and soon enough, we were on our way to the Singapore Flyer. Woohoo!!!

Since it's a Public Holiday, mom can drive her "Off Peak Car" in the day without having to put a SGD20 coupon. As such, she took advantage of the rare opportunity and decided to drive to the Singapore Flyer. Initially, she thought of taking a cab but the extra charges these days is just ridiculous!!! Anywho, it's mom's first time driving in town! Imagine how excited and eager she was! Hehe. Overall, the experience was really beyond cool. I'm glad mom is now more confident in driving. Weeee~ :)

As soon as we stepped our foot into the Flyer's mall, we decided to walk around and explore what the stores have to offer. To my shock, I saw a high end boutique called Nankai, which specializes in crocodile skin goods. It's sad to see the boutique so "empty". I wonder who patronizes the boutique anyways? Haha! Well, if not for the exorbitant prices, mom would have definitely grabbed a piece or two. Their collections are all lovely! :P We then took some pictures before finally taking a break at Popeyes. :)

After a decent meal, it was time for us to board the Singapore Flyer to get a once in a lifetime experience of being "on top of the world". Haha. The boarding process creeps me a little but eventually, everything was smooth sailing. It helps that the capsules are fixed as else not, the capsule would have swayed a whole lot at the peak (like EOM in Malaysia)! Scary! Haha. ALso, if not for the heavy rain that just cleared, I guess I would be able to see more buildings far far away but I'm happy with what I got to see at that point of time. Getting a bird eye's view of the surroundings @ Marina is really awesome! How I wish I can have more time at the peak...

Now, all good things must come to an end, no? So yeah, after a solid 30 minutes revolution, the capsule came back to the boarding area and we safely got out from the capsule. It was yet another creepy moment! Hahahaha. Overall, it was definitely a memorable experience! I feel that even if I have to pay for the full price, I am willing to do so as just look at the pictures I took. It speaks more than a thousand words. ;) For more pictures, do visit my Facebook's Album aite? :D

P/S: While in the capsule, mom "made friends" with two boys from India. They're just so cute! Hahahaha. Oh yeah, their names are Ajun & Aresh. :)

P/S/S: For the record, here's mom with the Lancel bag that I recently bought for her. Btw, look at her unique Voir heels. Just gorgeous! :D

LANCEL

"LANCEL is the ultimate stage in a long history that began in 1876 when its founders Alphone and Angele Lancel have opened the first boutique in Paris. In 1929, LANCEL has opened a boutique in the Place of Opera that remains till nowadays a well-known symbol of the brand. Since 1950, LANCEL has been developed with the aim to satisfy the growing desires of its customers, by creating products that combine tradition and modern style to grace, elegance and quality. In September 1997, LANCEL has joint the Richemont group that counts among others brands such as CARTIER, MONT BLANC, BAUME & MERCIER, PANERAI, CHLOE, PURDEY & OLD ENGLAND. Since that date, LANCEL has accelerated its development globally, by creating luxury and esthetic products..."

Yups, this is yet another High End Label which may be foreign to most of U. Like Goyard, the main reason why it's not that popular in Singapore is because, there's no flagship store here! As such, Singaporeans are left out on this luxurious label. All they know is more Louis Vuitton and Gucci! Sheesh. Give me a break! Hehe. :)

Well, again like Goyard, Lancel is also on par with other high end labels. Sadly, even in Paris itself, they are not that well received. I guess, it must be due to their simple and limited collection. But, on my recent visit to Lancel's boutique at Starhill Gallery Kuala Lumpur, I saw a whole range of the latest collection and I must give two thumbs up. Tagged at a very affordable price (comparable to Coach), the bags will surely be an instant hit with those who wants to stand out. ;) Mom actually got quite a good deal the other time but she just had to pass it due to some financial constraints. Hehe. :P

Thank god, back in Singapore, I finally found one Lancel bag going on a huge discount at eBay. Well, it may be aged and used, but the classic design still stays. In fact, the good quality can be seen through its still sturdy handle and base. Lancel only uses the highest grade of leather. Then again, I believe all other high end labels do. Haha! Ok what's the best part U guess? The price of course!!! Imagine this, the owner actually bought the bag at close to SGD1,000 but I only paid SGD50 for it! WHAT A HUGE SAVING!?! I'm so dead. Here are some pictures of the bag. What do U think? :D

P/S: Goyard & Lancel, please open at least one flagship store, here in Singapore!! :(

Best Buys @ Aussino!

If U are a big fan of bedsheets/bed linens and other bedroom/household item, be sure to drop by Aussino, TODAY! They're having a HUGE sale! Most items are on more than 50% discount. What a bargain! Gosh, if only money were no issue, I would have grabbed every single thing. Haha! Trust me, it's a deal too good to pass. Everyone knows Aussino's quality and to get them at this dirt cheap price, is extremely insane! So what U waiting for? Get set and GO! :D I already got mine! ;)

Despite the many variety, I actually had a hard time searching for a suitable bedsheet. As I was about to give up, I suddenly laid my eyes on the checkered green "Gingham" set. It may be too simple but I'm just in love with the colour! I don't usually like green but this is a totally different case. Haha! :P Know what? I didn't actually realise that it was for Kids at the first glance. Do U think it's really appealing for them? Haha. In anyways, I guess, I've let the kid in me shine! Hahahaha. :)

The downside of the set is that, it only comes with 1 pillow case and 1 bolster case. Gosh, I find bolsters redundant! As such, I'm short of another pillow case (since I use 2 pillows). Thank god Aussino carries plain pillow cases. Still, I'm "forced" to purchase 2 pieces. Haha. Well, I don't mind coz, just look at how much it matches the bedsheet perfectly! I'm so loving "Lily Green" now! Hahahaha! ;)

Gosh, I'm extremely euphoric! Better still, I have a matching curtain set. I can't wait to use everything at one go! Maybe I should change today since it's Deepavali! Huh? Haha. Anyways, wazzup with me and all the matchings? Gee! :P

Finally Shifted! :D

Yups, it has been a good week since my granny shifted to my house. What's the delay in posting about it, U ask? Well, I just purposely chose not to update earlier as I wanted to take some time to observe my granny's reaction, given the complete change. The result? Well, so far so good I must say. I'm glad she's able to adapt to the new surroundings easily. Then again, nothing much is new in her room. Haha. She basically have all her old furnitures and they are even positioned exactly as her "old" bedroom. So yeah, I suppose that's why she's so comfortable staying her. After all, she doesn't have to do a lot of things in my home. All she does is eat and sleep. What a luxurious life, no? :P Still, I do encourage her to go the market or something so as to make herself active. ;)

So yeah, as mentioned, my granny shifted last Sunday (19/10/2008). On that day, many of my family members, relatives and even granny's neighbours turned up. This should be something joyful, no? Sadly, it's not. Why? Well, some of them, instead of being concerned about the shifting process and what nots, can actually have the cheek to ask my granny IF they can have some her unwanted things (they aren't kidding!). Gawd, how thick-skinned can they be? I mean, come on! It's already bad that they aren't helping out in any ways, in fact just be a mess in the house, but to be so shameless...? Tsk3! Too bad for them as most eventually left empty handed. Who cares? Haha!

Anyways, frustration aside, there's still some nice moments in the "old" home to reminisce about. My granny has been living there for the past 28 years so obviously, there were so much to remember. Even so, life has to go on. What's past is past, right? Hehe. Hmmmm... alrighty, here are some pictures from my granny's "old" home so as to give U some idea about how it looks like. :)

Now, these are part of the goods she decided to bring along with her to my home. Can U just imagine how full my house is now? GOSH! Nevermind, slowly but surely, most of the things must go. Mom already have plans to donate them away. Whatever it is, we just can't keep them all! We may love it but the space just doesn't permit it. Haha! :D

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the changes in everyone's life. I hope it will remain this way till eternity! God willing. :)

Niz
