On Monday, me and granny accompanied mom to the Family Court for another mediation session with my dad regarding the maintenance issue. The date was set because just a few weeks back, mom lodged a complain stating that my dad has failed to carry out his responsibility as mentioned in the Syariah Court's order.
First, he stopped paying my maintenance since February 2008 when he needs to give me SGD240 per month till I reach 21 years of age. Secondly, he also failed to pay my mom a maintenance fee of SGD300 per month since the divorce in March 2008. Since it is indicated that my dad has to pay a lump sum of SGD20,000 should he fail to pay by the first month, mom took the advantage to bring him down. Well, call her meanie for all I care but no one will know why she did this except for me and my immediately family members. I believe U would also be supportive of us should U know the true reasons. In anyways, as usual, my dad always have 1001 excuses which 99% of it are pure bullshit.
After the 20 minutes session, the matter came to a conclusion. That is, my dad will pay more or less SGD25,000 by November or so when he receives his share from the sales of the house I'm currently staying in (since he was the 2nd owner). Well, not to worry. Mom will buy over the house so that we will not have to move. Still, the current valuation is already SGD265,000 (it can actually reach up to SGD280,000). When will my mom finish paying the house, given such an exorbitant price? Sheesh!
My dad actually only verbally agreed to pay in such manner. The black and white is still being processed. What mom fear most now is that, sometimes, cases like these can't be handled by the house agent or mediators at the family court fully. As such, she needs to get a lawyer once again to produce the relevant documents. That will cost another good SGD2,000 to SGD3,000 as usual. OMG! I truly hope everything can be settled without the use of any lawyer's expertise.
For now, we just have to sit back and relax. By right, all this matter can be settled way back if my dad co-operates. Sadly, he's NOT a gentleman at all. All he cares is himself. He thinks he can get away with his stupid acts but too bad, the law speaks for itself. Now mom and me know one of the method to bring him way down. If he still insist on NOT paying the lump sum, he will be arrested and jailed for a term yet to be decided. Even if he got jailed for a day, me and mom would definitely be euphoric. He has always wanted to experience that anyways. Hahaha! Now, call me a meanie for all I care...
Overall, there's nothing much to think about for now. Everyday, I thank god for all the things that I have. Most importantly, even if I have nothing else, I will always have my mom, granny and aunts. These are my true treasures. :)
P/S: Once again, I have to stress that me and mom are not hard up for the maintenace money. We just wanted to teach my dad a good lesson on responsibility. It works, no? ;) To me, U can be nice once or twice. Then on, force is the only way to make things happen. Weeee!
