Hari Raya Preparation

Woohoo! It's already 20th Ramadhan. That means, it's only 10 more days to Hari Raya Aidilfitri! Time surely does fly by fast, yeah? So how's your Hari Raya preparation? Mine is going extremely fine. Well, initially, I don't really want to have a "grand" Hari Raya this year as I really think it's unnecessary but guess who made me excited once again? Surprisingly, it's my mom! For the past 2 Hari Raya, she was all solemn and wished the day didn't come (I reckon there's a strong link to the divorce) but suddenly this year, she is so in the mood to celebrate. Sadly though, she have to work afternoon shift on the first day of Hari Raya. Sigh. Still, Hari Raya is a month long, no? Hehe.

For now, mom have forked out more than SGD1000 for this year's Hari Raya. GOSH! Wait, don't be shocked. That amount is actually inclusive of a new sofa set which she purchased recently from Nova furnishings. Hahaha. It's not just another splurge, mind U. We really need a new sofa set as the last time mom bought a complete sofa set was more than 5 years ago. I think it's reasonable enough, no? Whatever it is, the sofa set will be delivered to my home this coming 25th September. Can't wait for it's arrival! Will definitely update about it then. Weeee! :D

Meanwhile, what we already have on hand isn't less exhilarating. In fact, the more I look at our acqusition, the more eager I am to celebrate Hari Raya. Hahahaha! To start off, what is Hari Raya without the little delicacies? I am referring to the Hari Raya biscuits! Hehe. Nowadays, there's a wide variety to choose from. I went nuts in Geylang! Thankfully, the price didn't increase. Till date, I've already purchased Choc Chip M&M Cookies & Choc Chip Macaroon from an online seller residing in Kembangan, Chocolate Swirl Cookie & White Chocolate (something) from Raja Kuih and Milky Heart Cookies from a stall @ Kampung Melayu's Bazaar. That may not look like a whole lot but it should be sufficient. After all, I'm also targetting Iz's Famous Amos & Ferrero Rocher and my Granny's Kueh Tart & Kueh Makmur. Hehe. I LOVE VARIETIES! ;)

As for decorations, well, nothing much has been bought except for two boxes of "Chasing/Running Lights". I'm yet to hang them at the corridor but I'm definitely doing so later today/tonight. I hope to upload some pictures of it, real soon. :) What else? Oh yeah, mom promised a new tab top curtain for my room as I've been wanting one for ages but it's so difficult choosing the right design/colour. I wonder if I'll eventually get a pair. We will just see. Hehe. Hmmm... I think there's nothing else to buy as mom believes in recycling when it comes to decorations. After all, the ones we have is still in good condition. I don't see a point in buying new ones. Cheyyyy... Haha!

Last but not least, obviously when we talk about Hari Raya, we always think about new outfit(s). For the past 2 Hari Raya, me & mom didn't get any new outfit as I said, mom just didn't felt like celebrating. Thus, she saw no point in new outfits. But then, it's obviously a different story this year! Hahaha. I could already sense her eagerness in celebrating Hari Raya when she bought a 'Baju Kurung' from H&H @ SOGO Kuala Lumpur during our recent trip. Despite being extremely cheap and simple, the 'Baju Kurung' is still unique in its own way. To complement the "one of a kind" 'Baju Kurung', mom bought an elegant scarf from Melati Moda @ Geylang Serai's Bazaar for just a mere SGD22. When put together, the outfit just looks stunning, no? Really love the two-toned scarf! As usual, my phone's camera just doesn't do anything any justice. Hehe!

So, when mom gets new outfit, do I just sit and stare? HELL NO! Haha! I also need a new outfit! Well, since the theme this year is "Golden Yellow/Cream", it was actually a little tough to get just the right outfit. Finally, after searching high and low, I found the best outfit @ Silver House, Tanjong Katong Complex. Well, it may not be grand but it's definitely comfortable. Priced at SGD68, I must admit that it's rather costly but what can I say? I love it! Hehe. Luckily mom didn't nag much.

All in all, it has been a great fun preparing for this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Now, fun has to be set aside for a while as I will be busy cleaning up my house over the weekend. It's in such a mess. Afterwards, on two of the weekdays, I need to help Granny clean up her house too. OH MY GOD! I hope everything will be just fine! Woohoo! :D

P/S: Okay, I know it's such a long post. That's what happened when I'm too euphoric! Haha! Btw, preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri is not wrong but let us not forget the night of Lailatul Qadar yeah? Hehe! ;)
