"Gema Aidilfitri" Hari Raya Celebration
Woah! It's been a week since I last updated my blog. Life really has got the better of me. Haha. There's so many things that happened for the past week. I wish to share most, if not all, whenever I have the time to blog. Anywho, as a start off, I'll post about my experience at the Hari Raya Celebration organized by the Bedok Reservoir-Punggol Rise Residents Committee. Well, the RC in my estate has been actively organizing various big scaled celebrations since I was practically a baby. In fact, they never fail to organize a Hari Raya Celebration either once a year or once every two years. Even so, it has been quite some time since I last attended such events as I don't find the concept/programme appealing. More often than not, they organize an event/celebration based on what they deem is nice. In other words, they never spare a thought for what the residents want.
This year, it was no exception. I thought, after skipping a number of events for the past years, something new could have somehow appear but I was extremely disappointed. Everything was just so crappy! Firstly, the RC decided to limit the serving of food (to just a small scoop) till at the end, there were so much leftovers. Next, the audience wasn't at all entertained. Why so? Well, there were no professional entertainer to begin with! See, not being able to hire an entertainer or two is one thing but what makes they think that we residents love to hear them sing for more than two hours? They were practically karaoke-ing the whole night through! I rather they just play some song from a CD (pirated or not) than listening to them sing. Still, the worst part was, audience were "forced" to see the RC members dancing away and having the time of their life. WHAT IS THIS? Do the residents deserve this? No doubt the ticket only cost 5 bucks but hey, if they could have come out with a way better programme, I don't even mind to fork out 50 bucks! Gosh. Seriously, what were the organizers thinking when they approved this event to be carried out? Everything sucks! Perhaps, before they even start karaoke-ing, a word of advise for them is to check the sound system first. For heaven's sake, everyone sounded awful. There were totally no positive point about the event, at all! Sad thing, huh? If only I was the organizer! Sigh. Still, it was nice to see all the residents coming together. If not for events like these, I bet we would not see each other again. Everyone's busy with their own lives. What a sad reality! Oh wells. Overall, I must say that events like these should still be organized in the years to come BUT I really wish that a little bit more effort is put in during the planning stage. I am so not going to waste more of my money on nonsensical events! I rather not meet the other residents than having to "torture" myself to like what the RC planned (if it's real bad). Sheesh!P/S: I was so bored till I can't be bothered to snap many pictures. There were nothing interesting anyways.Regards,Niz
