Dental Checkup
Due to a bad toothache, I had to skip school twice, this week. Initially, the pain just came from my newly grown wisdom tooth but after some time, it started to spread to the other tooths. I started to panick and decided to make an appointment at the dental clinic near my home on Wednesday. Sadly, all slots were full and I was told to drop by on Thursday. I refused but the intensity of the pain got higher. In fact, I got a terrible headache from the pulsation. As such, I had no choice but to book a slot on Friday morning for a dental checkup.Ever since my primary school days, I actually have a big fear of visiting the dentist. I don't know why but I just hate the tools they use on my teeth. Can't they use something else? Haha. But sometimes, desperate time really calls for desperate measure, no? I went on despite my fear. It's been a good 6 years or so since my last visit, for god's sake. Even the dentist acknowledged that fact. Haha! :PI let the dentist do a thorough checkup on my teeth. To my horror, he said that I have a very bad teeth! Well, not that there are holes or anything but there certainly are lots of plaque. He also said that my teeth are shorter than usual and it really worries him. GOSH! Imagine how shocked I was! Mom were by my side when the dentist told me that. Guess what? Without even thinking twice, she kept nagging at me! I know I didn't listen to her when she told me to take good care of my teeth but for heaven's sake, is it really necessary to nag there and then? Haha! Oh my, I felt so embarrassed.Anyways, to save my teeth from "vanishing", the dentist put on some gel-like substance on the affected tooth and also the whole of my gum. He was also "kind" enough to help me recontoure my wisdom tooth as it's growing unevenly. Boy, I was so relieved when the whole ordeal was over! I can't stand that annoying sound the machine produces when it touches my tooth. URGH! *shrugs* I thank him for everything and quickly proceed to the payment counter. Guess what? Knowing that my teeth is bad isn't as shocking as knowing the price for the checkup!!! For less than an hour session, the dentist charges me a whopping SGD250!! When asked, the nurse said that the dentist had to do "a lot of things". I was like, are U kidding me? Haha. He barely did anything! Why must everything be sooooo expensive in Singapore, huh? Ok if that's not enough, I also have to buy some medication at a hefty SGD40+. JUST GREAT! I hesitate to fork out that much for things that I love but the dentist took that much from me in just seconds. ARGH! So what's the lesson that I get? I have to really take good care of my teeth if I do not wish to bid farewell to them. My aim is to rather, bid farewell to the money-sucking dentist. Haha! I say, if an apple a day makes the dentist go away, then take a whole basket! :P Seriously, I just have to do something in order to have a healthier teeth and gum. I mean, it's not that I haven't been taking care of my teeth, but I guess, I just got the wrong brushing technique or something. Sigh. Oh yeah, the nicest thing that I got from the dental checkup, was none other than, the Medical Certificate. My first MC since I step into ITE, ya'll!!! Hahahaha! :DRegards,Niz
