Batam, BEST!
My oh my, I'm still exhausted from the Batam trip! Not quite sure if it's physically or mentally though. I think it's a little bit of both. Hahaha, wateva! Anywho, that doesn't quite matter. What matter is, me and mom had a good time there. Why U ask? As usual, we went on a shopping spree!!! Hehe. I'm glad that the focus is on mom, though. I certainly don't need anything else for now. :P So does mom actually but then again, it's her money. I'm just giving her the "support". *evil grin*

So on Saturday, me, mom and my relative went to Diamond City Mall to shop for some groceries. In my opinion, only DC Mall's supermarket stocks the best variety of goodies for people of all ages. While it may not match other hypermarkets located in the elite places of Batam, it certainly is enough for a Singaporean like me to go crazy! Haha. I just took anything that I wanted and soon enough, the contents in the trolley was already overflowing. U can't blame me as those goodies can never be found in Singapore! Some of my favourite items to buy are Nano Nano sweets, Tango wafers, Silver Queen chocolates, Sosro Fruit Teas and many more. :) All in all, the total cost amounted to a whopping Rp610,000 - approximately SGD80. Haha! :D [Sorry no pictures of groceries! :P]

After being satisfied with our purchases, we then headed to Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre (one of Batam's newest) located within the elite area. This shopping centre is not really popular with the local because everything is quite costly. Still, it doesn't deter them from doing some window shopping. I pity them but there's nothing I can do, no? Sigh. Anywho, me and mom wasted no time. Upon our arrival, we quickly headed to Matahari Deparmental Store, leaving our relative behind. They had their own things to settle anyway. Haha! Guess what? Mom instantly went nuts at the sight of the gorgeous heels going on sale. Everything looked so tempting till mom ended up with three pairs of heels when she barely need the other two. Sheesh. We then stepped out of the store and visited all the other small boutiques. Along the way, mom managed to grab a nice shirt and an everyday bag for the both of us. We're such a shopaholic! ;)

After feeling exhausted from all the shopping, we decided to have an early dinner at Solaria Restaurant. Funny thing about most restaurants in Batam is, they never really specialise in a certain type of cuisine. They serve everything from Indonesian to Western to Japanese and beyond. Haha! Still, the cuisines were lip smacking good and the affordable prices really made the experience a better, overall. :) Mom had Teriyaki Katsu while I had the Cordon Bleu. Our side dish was a generous amount of Sweet & Sour Fish. To wash down everything, mom had an Orange Juice while I opted for the Blue Sky Frappease. All these delicacies only cost us Rp99,000 - approximately SGD13. Heavenly~ ;) [Btw, don't U think the logo is a little Crumpler-ish? :P]

With all smiles, we left Nagoya Hill Shopping Center and headed to my relative's mom's home. She stays in one of the rundown villages but I don't at all mind paying her a visit. After all, we musn't always look on the luxurious side of life, right? ;) Haha. We spent a good time chatting the evening away while savouring a local delicacy called "Tapai Ubi". What's that U ask? In short, it just means "Fermented Tapioca". I say, this is the Malay/Indonesian version of alcohol. Haha! It's still alcohol except it doesn't make U go high. It's permittable for Muslims' consumption even though some prefer to just stay away. They're seriously at lost! :P

Soon, night came and by then we were just chilling out at my relative's place. She's got a comfortable house and I feel just fine there. Mom decided to watch some Indonesian drama while I studied the night away. Oh yeah, during my break, I did some camwhoring with my relative's kids for a bit (though most pictures doesn't show my face). They just love my lappie's webcam more! Hahahaha. ;) Oh speaking about lappie, the kids are actually more advanced than I thought! They know how to use a lappie even though they don't own one. Smart kids, eh? Good progress and I love it! :D

Sunday came and it was time for us to bid farewell. We did enjoy our short stay there despite all the occasional commotions created. I mean, the kids misses me and mom so much thus, during our presence, they tend to only want to be near us and neglecting their parents for a bit. It's tough asking them to do anything. End up, I was the one who dissemminate "orders". Though I love the authority, I still don't feel I'm ready to look after four mischievous kids! Hahahaha. Now, I'm missing all of them again... :(

P/S: Anyone want to buy the Authentic Louis Vuitton Luggage Tag, pictured above? It has turned patina and thus, looks so classy! I thought of getting a new one with a hotstamp of my name, from the boutique. Hehe. :PRegards, Niz
